With the IFPDA and E/AB Fairs happening, I can’t do all the writing I would like to this week. I have a preview of the weeks to come and links to some notable events and conversations.
Links:
Martha Lewis interviews Arthur Bradford (author), Chuck Webster (artist) and Katie Michel (publisher) about their new book 43 Monsters on WPKN. Chuck Webster has concurrent shows at Zevitas Marcus in LA and David Krut Projects in NY (as well as Wingate Studios booth at the E/AB Fair).
An interesting story about the publishing model of The Brooklyn Rail and Phong Bui in the Times.
There’s a panel discussion at 3pm on 11/15 at the New Museum called “Truth Seekers and Hidden Worlds” with panelists Gary Carrion-Murayari, Jonah Freeman, Justin Lowe, and Kate Valk. It is related to the Jim Shaw show (which I am dying to see).
Coming Soon:
Eric Doeringer and I speak about his short lived (by design) project – the RP Flea Market on eBay. In the artist’s words: “In honor of contemporary art auction week in New York, the holiday shopping season, and artists Richard Prince and Rob Pruitt, we are excited to bring you Eric Doeringer’s RP Flea Market eBay Shop.” Get shopping now on eBay.
Some thoughts on Walid Raad at MoMA and the parahistorical approach to telling history in art as well as using fiction as a place for art criticism. Raad is doing a lecture-as-performance called “Walkthrough” several days a week until his show ends.
Mary Temple was gracious to share some time to speak with me at depth about her work and studio practice.
